Food security

Food security has four pillars. Food safety refers to any scientific method/discipline that describes the handling, preparation and storage of food in a way that prevents foodborne illness. VHaN would like  to facilitate access to a balanced diet throughout the four pillars.

Availability: VHaN develops policies to promote organic agriculture and encourages farmers to intensify their production through training workshops organized in partnership with stakeholders involved in agriculture, livestock and fisheries.

Accessibility: promotion of the consumption of local products, advocacy for the installation of markets, advocacy for the subsidization of products and the reduction of taxes on imported food products.

Utilization: enhancement and promotion of disappearing traditional menus, organization of training sessions on the creation of new menus based on neglected local products; organization of culinary demonstration sessions.

Sustainability: organization of training and awareness sessions on the conservation system of food products.
